Laser Resurfacing

Outstanding Wrinkle Correction

Laser resurfacing is one of the most powerful and complex technologies for reversing the visible signs of aging. Exclusively performed by Dr. Nathan Rosen.

What Is Laser Resurfacing?

Laser resurfacing is an art form which, when performed by a skilled physician, can provide outstanding results. It is one of the most effective treatments for patients with fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, mouth and cheeks, acne scars or severe sun damage.

At Dermetics, all full ablative resurfacing is performed exclusively by Dr. Rosen — a leading authority on laser surgery and aesthetic medicine, whose accomplishments include a prestigious one year fellowship at the New York Laser and Skin Care Clinic in Manhattan, as well as numerous teaching and speaking engagements.

Dr. Rosen acts as an advisor and physician trainer to equipment manufacturers in the industry and has published numerous articles and papers on laser treatments and techniques.

How Laser Resurfacing Works

Depending on skin type and the level of correction required, there are several different types of laser resurfacing treatments available.

Fractional non-ablative laser resurfacing. Sometimes referred to as Fraxel®, this treatment targets underlying skin tissue without damaging the top layer of skin. It can provide excellent results for acne scarring and fine lines, and can improve skin texture and collagen production. Fraxel® requires little or no down time. Patients may experience mild redness and swelling for a day or two and can usually resume normal activities after one day.

Fractional ablative laser resurfacing. Deeper lines, more severe textural changes, altered pigmentation and mild skin laxity (looseness) often benefit from profractional laser resurfacing. This technology delivers fractional micro-beams of light into the skin while peeling its superficial layers. Patients experience some redness, swelling and crusting of the skin but can expect to resume normal activities after three to four days.

Full ablative laser resurfacing. For patients requiring the most corrective treatment, full laser resurfacing can deliver excellent results. This treatment precisely removes the entire superficial layers of the skin and heats deeper skin tissue, resulting in healthy, smooth younger looking skin. Patients can expect approximately one to two weeks recovery time.
