Skin is cleansed and a numbing cream is applied. Treatment is performed using a handpiece with sterile, single-use tips that deliver fractionated RF energy through microneedles into the skin. Most patients tolerate treatment well, and additional comfort measures are available for more aggressive treatments. Microneedling RF is a low downtime procedure. Patients will experience mild redness and swelling for 12-24 hours and should avoid applying makeup until the next day. Mild peeling and a sandy texture is normal during the first week. Minor bruising may occur and can be covered with makeup.
A series of 3 treatments spaces 4-6 weeks apart is recommended to achieve optimal results. Many patients will see improvement after the first or second treatments, with full effect at 3 months after their last treatment. Maintenance treatments are recommended every 6-12 and patients will be prescribed medical grade skincare for use at home months to enhance and maintain results.
